Preserving Our Rural Character

bollepropertyRural Character is so important to the area that the town dedicated its future planning to the reservation of agriculture and the rural character of the Town. This rural character and agriculture is more at risk closest to the City of Eau Claire. The Priory Neighborhood is a key example of the risk of neighborhood at risk of losing that rural character. In 2016, the Priory Neighborhood is home to approximately 200 households on 3.5 square miles. 46% of that 3.5 square miles is actively being farmed. Apples, Sunflowers, Corn, Soybean, Wheat, Maple Syrup, Christmas Trees and other crops.

Driving along these roads, so close to the city, one might think this is a residential area. However, that perspective is quite misleading, agriculture remains the prime use of land within the Priory Neighborhood. All of this just across I-94 from the City. Our town's agricultural heritage is important to protect. In 2010 the average lot size in the Midwest was very close to a half acre lot. In contrast the average residential lot in the Priory neighborhood is 6.3 acres. One of the many benefits to buying property in the Priory Neighborhood is space. Space for privacy. Space for hobbies. Space for nature. Space for serenity. In the Priory Neighborhood, we have elbow room. A neighborhood, where your neighbors can rarely be seen or heard, but a neighborhood none the less. The character of our neighborhood is important.
